Home Meet Policies & Procedures
For Parents:
The night before:
-Print or download on your phone a “Heat Sheet” for the meet, found on the Schedule Tab on Swimtopia, and/or download Swimtopia App and find the current swim meet.
-Hydrate and go to sleep early!
The morning of:
-Using the heat sheet, write swimmer’s Event/Heat/Lane with sharpie on their hand/arm/shoulder BEFORE putting on sunscreen. Here is a youtube tutorial. If you have a little little, it can be helpful to write this info on their shoulder blade area, along with their full name, so that Age Group Parents and Ready Bench Volunteers have an easy time identifying they’re in the right spot.
-The parking lot is reserved for Age Group Tents, and Welland Circle is the drop-off zone. We try to reserve as much nearby street parking for the Visiting Team to park, so walk/bike/drop-off! Be there in time for warm up, and don’t miss the cheers!
-Hydrate! Put on sunscreen and wear a hat!
-Check swimmer in with Age Group Parent
-Report to your volunteer duty, or if you’re available, check in with the Age Group Parent often to see if they need any help!
-Exchange contact info with your swimmer’s buddy and parents for easy communication!
-Be kind to the other team, show good sportsmanship, cheer your heart out for any swimmer and enjoy watching them grow as athletes!
-Clean up the area after the meet, including endorsing your swimmer helps, too.
For Swimmers:
The night before:
-Eat plenty of healthy food!
-Hydrate and go to sleep early!
The morning of:
-Eat breakfast and Hydrate!
-Check in with your Age Group Parent.
-Be there in time for warm up, and don’t miss the cheers!
-Know what you are swimming, including what position you are on Relays, learn what E/H/L you’re in!
-Say Hi to your Buddy! Learn what E/H/L THEY’RE in, then go cheer for their swims!
-Check with your Age Group Parents before leaving the tent so they know where to find you.
-Stay ready to swim FAST: Move gently before your races, relax after them out of the sun, keep drinking water throughout the day, have more to eat than just candy, take off your cap between swims so you don’t overheat.
-Be kind to the other team, show good sportsmanship at every opportunity, and make some new friends on the ready bench!
-Help keep your area clean by throwing away trash BEFORE you put it down. Don’t leave without helping clean your area.
