Swim Practice Guidelines
Swim Practice Etiquette for Swimmers:
-Arrive on time and ready to swim.
-Listen to coaches and follow their directions.
-Be willing to learn new skills and give effort.
-Show respect for fellow swimmers - Bullying/Name Calling/Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
-Show respect to the other Parents and Lifeguards, they are there to support you.
-Do not disrupt your coach or bother others in your lane.
-Practice good sportsmanship and encourage teammates and opponents.
-Promote and participate in team spirit.
On Deck at Practice: Swimmers may enter the pool area before their practice to set their things down and get ready to swim. Parents are not allowed to pass through the Baby Pool-Side of the pool (the shallow end) while practice is running so that our younger swimmers can stay focused on the Coaches and vice versa. Please go around the gate by the field or on the Deep End side of the pool if you need to enter the pool area during practice. Parents may sit on the lawn chairs on the deep end side of the pool this year, though if we find that your swimmer is especially distracted by your presence, coaches may ask you to move.
Attendance: The NAAL requires that a swimmer attends at least 2 practices a week in order to swim in that week’s swim meet. If your swimmer cannot attend the specified practice for their age group, please contact Coach Lesley by text at 512-968-8232 to see if a different age group or time will be appropriate for them (This will not always be the case, if a swimmer will be out of their depth/unsafe at a different time, we cannot accommodate the change). During June, swimmers always have the option to attend the Makeup Practice from 6:45-7:30 AM. There will be a limited amount of space at this practice, especially for 6&U, so sign up beforehand on the SignupGenius.
Illness: If your swimmer or anyone in their household has ANY symptoms of COVID/Cold/Flu/Pink Eye/etc., please refrain from sending that swimmer to practice until symptoms subside.
